Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Jones.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Destiny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up in Huntsville, Alabama, all I knew was technology. I remember being in middle school, telling my teachers and peers that I would grow up to be an Engineer. In high school, I remember wanting to write computer programs and I began to get stuck. Deep down inside, I knew that what I needed to do in my lifetime would not be anything ordinary. It would be something that even I didn’t know existed until I began researching to find out that it was a “thing.”
Well, my journey began about two and a half years ago. In May of 2017, I found out that I was expecting and in September of 2017, I found out that I was carrying a baby boy. It wasn’t until after I gave birth that I realized my son’s life depended on mine. During that time, I realized that I was so worn out, overworked and felt like the company that I worked for at the time did not appreciate me. One day I sat down, prayed, and spoke to my Godmom about some of my strengths and how I knew that where I was in my career path (working for a large retail company) or even with my education (former Information Technology major), that it wasn’t for me. I knew that my success depended on me using my GIFTS. The gifts of administration and leadership.
I began researching businesses that I could start with the skills that I already had and guess what? Virtual Assistant was it! In May of 2018, I launched Choosing Destiny Virtual Services and to be honest, I wasn’t really feeling it. Something wasn’t connecting. I realized that everything I had to offer was more than me being an assistant and more along the lines of me being a manager. I spent two years branding myself as a “Virtual Assistant” when, in reality, I had so much more to give the business owners that I would come in contact with. Fast forward to today, Choosing Destiny is not only offering virtual services but in-house business management and administrative solutions.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Most definitely not! There were times when I felt like maybe this isn’t what I’m supposed to be doing. It didn’t feel or even seem promising. My money began to look funny and some months, I had no income at all. I wasn’t converting my leads to clients and it became very discouraging. I just could not convince myself that it was time to give up. I kept pressing my way. I began to realize that all of my trials and tribulations were necessary. I would not be where I am if everything was made easy.
We’d love to hear more about Choosing Destiny.
Choosing Destiny is an online and on-site business manager who manages the daily operations of businesses. We specialize in operations management, launch management, business organization, and team management, just to name a few. Along with Choosing Destiny being a business manager, we offer virtual and in-house services where our team handles administrative tasks such as email/inbox management, data entry, research, presentations, shipping and processing, and so much more.
We recently launched our order fulfillment service for eCommerce clients. With this service, our clients get the luxury of not having to worry about the cost of storing products, managing orders and returns, packing orders, shipping orders, or even customer service. I am most proud of the relief that we bring to each business, no matter how large or small the business is.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very shy. I didn’t speak much and I stayed to myself often. I loved school, math class in particular. That was actually my favorite subject, which was why I was sure that I would grow up to be an Engineer. My purpose was just much greater than I could have ever expected.
