Meet DJ Rampage of Owtlaw Entertainment in Powder Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Rampage.

DJ, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My very first DJ gig was my aunties 50th birthday party and I had no professional experience. However, she was quoted a ridiculous price so I told her I would give it a shot. I purchased a used Mix track Pro 2 controller, a new MacBook Pro, and a couple of speakers that didn’t match. I practiced and watched multiple videos but really didn’t know what I was doing. But I knew I loved music and loved to entertain so I was motivated. I received so many compliments afterwards I decided to keep working on my craft and invest a little more money. I started to book house parties, family reunions, and a few venue parties here and there which kept me busy on the weekends.

In around 2016 I was asked to provide pictures of my setup to someone who was interested in booking me for a wedding. I was immediately turned down. That was the turning point in my career. At that point I went down to the courthouse and officially started my business under the name “Owtlaw Entertainment”. After a little research and time, I invested in Owtlaw Entertainment purchasing a trailer, 4 sets of speakers, lighting, truss, another MacBook Pro, multiple DJ controllers, and various other pieces of equipment. Those investments allowed me to become more marketable and now I’m booking between 5-10 gigs every month throughout the state of Georgia and Alabama. In the past few years, I have done Proms, Weddings, Festivals, Night Clubs in addition to the parties throughout the region.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Getting started and being turned down a few times was definitely tough. It’s been even tougher since the Covid-19 pandemic has hit. All of my weddings have either rescheduled for later dates or cancelled and most parties or club gigs were completely cancelled. Things have slowly started picking back up now though. Other than that business has been good. I guess I realized people need DJ’s more than I initially thought.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Owtlaw Entertainment – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Over my 5-year career I have been the musical supervisor and emcee for more than 300 events including weddings, parties, proms, family reunions and corporate events. Our goal is to provide quality DJ services at an affordable price.

I am versatile DJ and can play music from different genres including Hip Hop, R&B, Old School, Reggae, Reggaetón/Latin, Pop, House, EDM and Country. I own my sound system with speakers and wireless microphones. Because of this, I am able to keep my prices competitive. I also provide up lighting, stage lighting, personal Gobos, and fog machines.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future I plan to start branding my name more and if possible, quitting my daily 9-5 and rely solely on my DJ business. I would also like to build a team of DJ’s and Emcee’s which would definitely take Owtlaw Ent to another level.
