So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a cannabis advocate and consumer, I noticed an opportunity to target professionals that want to enjoy their high without “looking” high. I grew up in a household where marijuana and all drugs were considered taboo. As I got older, I gained my own appreciation for weed and its benefits.
I have been able to manage a successful 12- year career with a Fortune 100 company where I had 5 promotions, completed 2 corporate mentorship programs, and earn countless awards and recognition. My achievements are in their museum for life- they seriously have a museum and my picture is in there as an Honoree. The cool thing is that I did all of this as a cannabis consumer.
I also quickly realized that I was not the only smoker in my corporate environment. If you smoke, then you know the value of finding a buddy or two that does also, especially at work!
About one year ago I had an idea to start a company that helps professionals enjoy their high without “looking” high. No more answering questions about low, red eyes or smoke-stained fingertips. I shared my thoughts with a few close friends and they were genuinely excited. That was the beginning.
I continued to worked my corporate job and prepare for my exit by saving as much as I could. I cut back on frivolous spending and paid my bills ahead as much as possible. At the beginning of 2020, I began working with my attorney to file the necessary paperwork to form my business. As I was planning my exit, COVID-19 hit and had a massive impact on our industry. I saw it as the time I needed to focus on building Corporate Smokers.
I’ve worked diligently since April to make this idea come to life. I’m very proud of the direction we’re going. Since then, I’ve been able to voluntarily separate from my job to focus solely on Corporate Smokers. I’m excited to announce that Corporate Smokers is a proud sponsor and vendor at USA CBD Expo, the largest CBD event in the nation. It’s not until February 2021, but I see it as confirmation that my path is aligning.
In short, I reached a point in my career where I was ready for change. I started thinking about what else I could do and what I might be passionate about. My answer was cannabis, and here we are.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I think the most difficult part is navigating this journey during a global pandemic.
Sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to adjust to all the changes personally, so it’s been a whirlwind finding my way through launching Corporate Smokers. The nation (and world) was locked down, we have civil rights protests, political campaigns- it’s been a lot!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I’m a native, so I may be biased, but I think Atlanta is a phenomenal place to start a business. The opportunities are endless – we’re home to major production studios and a thriving music/entertainment scene. We have some of the brightest scholars and best talent at the Atlanta University Center and surrounding institutions. We also have a lot of potential customers with our diverse demographics.
Having established that, I wish Atlanta was a market for legal adult-use cannabis. While my products are completely legal and anyone can use them, cannabis consumers are my target. It would be great to engage them directly through local events.
Atlanta has come a long way with the decriminalization of marijuana, but we still have a long way to go. In my opinion, that would be the best way to improve!
