Meet Laz Tenreiro of Lazaro’s Cuban Cuisine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laz Tenreiro.

Laz, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born in Cuba and raised in South Florida. When needed, a change in life and looking for better opportunities for my kids decided to move to Roswell, GA. After moving here was always looking for home-style Cuban food and there was no place in GA that offered homemade Cuban food. So I decided to open a restaurant with NO RESTAURANT experience whatsoever. People thought I was nuts and that I wouldn’t make it three months. Well, here I am, over eight years open and more successful than imagined.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was not easy at the beginning. I knew what food should taste like and knew about customer service but had no idea how to run a restaurant. So I would say that the first three years were tough but I knew that I would make it.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Lazaro’s Cuban Cuisine – what should we know?
We are known for our home-style dishes: nothing fancy, just great ingredients and amazing tasting food. Cuban food is not complicated. It is comfort food for the whole family. I use top quality ingredients as I use in my own house. I always said that if my kids and I were going to eat at the restaurant that it had to have the best quality ingredients and meats.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have the BEST customers ever. They have become my extended LCC family and a lot have become really good friends.
