Meet Morgan Howard of Totally Booked

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Howard.

Morgan, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was working at a small accounting firm in 2015 when I got the idea to start my own business. I handled payroll, billing and bookkeeping for small businesses in the area. I remember seeing the client’s invoices come across my desk and I kept comparing it to what my salary was and I knew I could be doing better. I decided to register my business and I started finding ways to build my clientele. From there, I had a couple of other jobs that taught me a lot and I met some great people, but working for someone my entire life just wasn’t it for me. After years of going back and forth and being scared to go out on my own I finally took that leap and it has been the best secular decision i’ve made yet.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Learning the ropes of entrepreneurship along the way alone has been a struggle. Figuring out what processes work best for you business, learning who you can trust, and seeing who will and won’t support you have been some go the toughest things. Some days you wake up and are on fire, but then you have days where it’s like, “I don’t think I can do this!” Handling all of the marketing, onboarding, sales, customer service, etc. can be overwhelming. There have literally been days I logged on to Indeed.com to apply for another job! But those phases pass and you keep pushing and growing and you see you really can do it. There are genuine people out there that will help and support you and I have to say I have some pretty amazing people in my corner.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Totally Booked – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a full-service virtual Accounting Firm. We handle bookkeeping, sales tax, payroll, budgeting, QuickBooks Training, and more. Our niche clients are in the film and construction industries, but we have plenty of other clients in various other industries as well. I am most proud of the fact that we continually give top-notch customer service to our clients. We genuinely care about them and want them to succeed. Accountants have a stigma of being boring and having boring jobs. I want our firm to stand out from that. We have a fun, sometimes crazy, upbeat and happy staff and I want that to show when people talk to us and visit our social media page. I want you to remember our firm as something different!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the drive of entrepreneurship in Atlanta. It’s honestly like no other. There are so many YOUNG people with great ideas and starting businesses. I wish I knew what I knew now ten years ago. Because there are so many people here with that mindset, it’s a great place to network. You can easily find a solid team for anything you are needing to run your business and that, in turn, keeps everyone’s businesses growing. I really love Atlanta so I don’t have anything I don’t like.
