Today we’d like to introduce you to Khawaja Mahmood.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was employed by the local hospital as a Pediatrician. The hospital was sold and new the owner of the hospital made me go on my own. So, I started my own practice 16 years ago.
Now, I have a thriving pediatric practice with more than 6000 patients. My wife is the office manager. I am an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Medical College of GA and Mercer School of Medicine. I have been teaching medical students for last 20 years
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it was not a smooth road. Initially, I have to do a lot of locum’s job and work long hours.
Mountainside Pediatrics – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the only pediatrician in this county. As a matter of fact, I am the first Pediatrician in the history of this county.
I specialize in newborn care and adolescent care and special interest in pediatric allergy and asthma.
I am proud to be the first pediatrician of this county and serving this county for last 17 years.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
When I am able to save the life of a sick newborn 10 years ago who was born with no breathing and heart rate.
