Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre’Tarsha Harris.
Bre’Tarsha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my business five years ago. But my journey for hair came early on. Being blessed with the talent to do hair, at the tender age of 12, I started doing my mom and her friend’s hair for money. Me and my sister always had a vanity in our room growing up so you know beauty was something that was apart of our household. I used it for all it was worth till around 14. I had taken over my mom’s kitchen. I continued that till after having my two daughters by the age of 19 thereafter, I got my very own place. I put in work but never stayed focused enough to become licensed. I got closer to God, knowing I wanted more; my headspace became clear. 2015 I open my Salon 2017, I became a Master and from there, I knew there wasn’t anything I couldn’t do, as long as I had God in my life!! Anything was possible… Who would’ve thought the drop and baby at 16 would now be a Master Stylist, Home Owner and businesswoman. It’s been five years of trials that are very worth it. I wouldn’t change anything. I know God’s got many blessings in store for me and I’ve already started to embarked on them. It has been his Grace and mercy that kept me and my family.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No!! The first two years was hard and the lack of support being in a field that is overpopulated with Stylist, you have to go hard and attract clients that’s for you and stand out in that area.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the STUDIO513SALON story. Tell us more about the business.
Well, it’s funny when I’m asked what do I specialize in, I laugh cause I became known many years ago from my creative updos. Lol but today, I have my hands in just about everything to make money. I, the stylist that doesn’t turn down any client unless it braiding. Since I started my locs, I find myself doing more & more of them. But my passion is natural hair, we ladies got to find our way back to that.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t use the term luck. I believe in God and the devil. So God has blessed me with two other stylist and faithful clients. The devil has thrown me a few bad weeds that I’ve had to cut out.
