Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Valero.
Karen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Caracas Venezuela, I came to Georgia when I was 15 years old I learned English and went to school. I showed great enthusiasm and talent for the arts: Theatre, Photography, Painting, and Acting! Modeling jobs led to commercials, which then turned into film auditions. Shortly after I was part of, Let’s Stay Together, the popular television series, Orange is The New Black on Netflix, you can also see me on A Question of Faith on Lifetime, Emergence on abc and National commercials for Coors Light, The Home Depot, Hallmark and CVS, Nature Valley and many more, I been on 24 Billboards 3 front cover magazines and many ads.
I love to travel with my husband Charles and love visiting National Parks photographing Landscapes and wild animals, I enjoy cooking, Traveling, working out, hiking, running with my dog Diesel and riding my motorcycle. Above all, acting is my passion, and I see it as an adventure that has just begun; I believe that the journey and the characters I create along the way will help me understand who I am.
I want to inspire others to follow their dreams and that everything is possible.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all, from moving to the states and learning English, to becoming a U.S Citizen and getting to adapt to a new culture and people has been hard but fun. Leaving my brother & father and best friends in Venezuela was one of the hardest things I’ve ever did. Not being understood by people when I speak and especially with acting, but found the greatest human and beautiful souls in Georgia and I am so glad I moved here! There are so many opportunities and this State is my favorite to live in.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am passionate about acting, because of this I wanted to learn new skills during this quarantine so I learned how to ride a motorcycle, Sword Fighting, Knife Fighting, Karate, Krav Maga, How to drive a boat, how to handle firearms safely & Rock Climbing, I can also do different accents, Indian, Spanish, Arab and now learning the American Accent all of this got me signed with a new Los Angeles Agent.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Atlanta will be #1 the new Hollywood and will be like this for years to come. We have a very diverse community and a lot of different places to shoot, great weather and the best food and people.
