Today we’d like to introduce you to Caden Wright.
Caden, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m born and raised in North Carolina, where I earned my B.A. in Visual Art & Design from North Carolina A&T State University. I worked full-time as an artist for three years before I decided to go back to school for art direction. I’ve been working fulltime as an art director for about three years now, but I’ve never stopped drawing and illustrating. My illustrations are inspired by my life experiences and things that I admire. My illustration style is bold, like my personality, vibrant like my imagination, and radiant like my energy.
Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest challenge as an illustrator was figuring out how do I stand out from the crowd. With there being so many talented people in this industry, I needed to find my unique style and it took me about three years to discover it.
We’d love to hear more about your art.
I am an illustrator who illustrates across all forms of media. I have experience with books, posters, flyers, cards, murals, etc. It makes me proud every time I put myself out there to share my gift with the world. I feel joy in every project, from the private commissions to the big brand work. My bold and vibrant illustration style along with being able to really grasp my clients’ desires, is what sets me apart from others. Instead of just creating what the client needs, I invite them into my creative process so that we can create together.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that people from all walks of life are able to thrive in Atlanta. It’s truly an inspiration when you can see people who look like you and come from a similar background as you be successful. On the other side of the coin, I think Atlanta still has a long way to come with public access and the education system. I pass by a lot of schools in the city that look severely underfunded. We can’t turn our backs on the youth.
