Meet Satin Doll

Today we’d like to introduce you to Satin Doll.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Satin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
One day terminated from my job at T-Mobile on a day I volunteered to work which was my off day. I then decided I would not work for another company that does not appreciate my value as an employee. Instead of crying and being upset, I came up with a plan! I wrote up a plan on how much per day with one day off a week would I need to make what I was making at my job. I started off thinking about how much I make with. My band, Lyft, extras castings and brand ambassador work. These were all jobs I still had to schedule according to others timing. I received a call from a coworker who needed photography at his church. I did the work for free until we wrapped up and he handed me an envelope with $70 for 1-2 hours of my time. I then decided to take my passion for photography to a whole new level. I then put together a price sheet. I looked at other works and I got busy. Working for myself not only benefits me because I am able and free to book my own schedule but I literally am able to make more in 2 hours doing what I love and creating memories for others. It takes patience and work. Working for yourself requires hustle and self-motivation! Similar to what I did for my jobs selling electronics for someone else. I am truly grateful to be able to do this for myself and my family.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s not always a smooth road. Although there’s a few bumps and bruises I wouldn’t change it for the world. It is all a learning experience. In this field once you jump the hurdles you are able to pass on your knowledge to other future business owners so they could bypass those same hurdles! Some of my bumps were just finding work in my field. Due to the amount of hungry photographers in Atlanta finding work in your genre can be a bit harder than you’d expect. Everyday is a day to work you have no days off when you work for yourself and LOVE what you do!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Satin Images specializes in everything. I am willing to learn new techniques new styles and new locations. My favorite is outdoor shooting! Nature shots seem to bring the beauty of the world out in one photo. I am personally most known for my outdoor waterfall shoots! They are my favorite. What sets me apart is my passion love and excitement for what I do. I not only assist my models in proper posing. I also assist them in looks more suitable for them. My proudest moments is being able to assist many single mothers in maternity shoots and graduation shoots that would usually cost them thousands of dollars and I did the work for free, and this is why I believe God continues to bless my company.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has never been a play in my business; its been all blessings and works. Faith without works is dead. Since I work God continues to bless me.
