Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Luster.
Kayla, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My entrepreneur story officially started about eight years ago when my late husband, myself and our three daughters moved to the Atlanta, GA area from our hometown of Montgomery, AL. I was immediately intrigued and motivated by the consensual hustle and bustle that seemed to spread like wildfire throughout the city. I knew I wanted to be apart of it, I just had to figure out how. After attending a hair show event, and intense market research I decided to start my own natural lip gloss line, K. Luster Beauty. Sales started off great, but I had one major issue; I was still working my corporate job while trying to run my own company. I was overwhelmed while selling myself short and that company fell because of it, the lessons learned from that time I’ve kept close not of.
A few years later, as I began to reconsider a full commitment to running my own business and being completely financially dependent on that business, tragedy struck my family and my husband of five years passed away suddenly. This event, I can say with full confidence soilfied for me, the urgency of a better quality of life for myself and my daughters, and building true financial freedom through developing successful businesses that will become legacies for us all. Today, I am the proud owner of Sassebeauti based in Atlanta, GA. Sassebeauti is an online based beauty supply store specializing in protective styling hair & beauty products. It is the labored result of cumulative business experience by myself and I am super excited for the future of the Sassebeauti brand!
Has it been a smooth road?
The road to successful entrepreneurship I have found is one of many twists and turns. With that being said, one of my biggest obstacles throughout the years has definitely been full commitment. It can be a scary thing being a full-time entrepreneur, especially when you are in the beginning phases of launching your business. I have learned, however, that your success is truly based on the work you put into it; faith is a real thing and having it allows you to overcome this challenge.

Sassebeauti is an online hair & beauty brand specializing in protective styling products. We are best known for our unique collection of ombre braiding hair, which is 100% Kanekalon and pre-stretched. Sassebeauti is definitely a boutique hair & beauty shop and our braiding hair colors are some of the most exclusive combinations you will find. I am personally most proud of the quality of our braiding hair, along with the color combinations that are each individually thoughtfully designed.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is the perfect place to take the leap into starting your own business, whether it be big or small. The entire atmosphere is filled with dreamers steadily chasing; it’s hard not to feel obliged to do the same. Atlanta is a Mecca for the hair & beauty industry, with hair being a major player. Trade shows, festivals, and pop-ups are plentiful with vendor opportunities here in Atlanta to get your business seen, increase sales, and network with colleagues and potential associates in the industry. It is absolutely the perfect city for Sassebeauti to be based in.
