Today we’d like to introduce you to Skye Estroff.
Skye, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always been a food enthusiast – I began experimenting in the kitchen starting at age three, won awards for my food photos in high school and majored in Dietetics in college. I attended the University of Georgia for my bachelor’s degree (Go Dawgs!), then took root in Atlanta after graduation. My first job was with Atlanta Eats where I maintained roles in sales, marketing and social media. There was a lot to learn and experience at Atlanta Eats, but the marketing and social media work drew me in the most. I was also happy to take on any on-set TV/radio opportunity I could find. I began working on camera and appearing with restaurants on “Atlanta Plugged In” on CBS46 each week. Then, less than a year after my college graduation, I had the opportunity to host the Athens, GA episode of “Dish Worth the Drive” and was featured in several “Public Affairs on Peach” specials.
Following Atlanta Eats, I took on a new role as Marketing and Media Manager for Taste of Atlanta in 2016. While I was with Taste of Atlanta, I managed all marketing partnerships, planned all social media and blog content for all of the festival’s events, and became extremely detail oriented. During this time, I also co-hosted the segment, “Talk Foodie to Me with Skye Estroff,” on Star 94.1’s morning show and got my RYT 200 yoga teaching certification.
In 2019, I decided it was time to go out on my own and begin Skye Estroff LLC. Working for myself allows the freedom to help a range of clients with social media/marketing as well as the space to continue hosting. I am a regular contributor on “Fox 5 Good Day Atlanta” where I Skype-in and talk through Atlanta’s food trends. I also host “The Georgia Foodcast” podcast by Georgia Organics and host and Executive Produce, “Foodie Road Trip,” a traveling food show that features the best small-town restaurants in America.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road is still going! It has been challenging throughout my career to know which “steps” have been the best for me to take. I’ve felt like I could be comfortable and stagnant or I could take a route that is more uncertain. I’ve always strived to keep learning and growing as well as to stay open to unlimited possibilities. It took me a lot of time to even ascertain the possibility of working for myself. Once I did, I found myself having no less than 100 decisions a day to make for my business. This took a lot of getting used to. But I will say, the more I practice making decisions from my gut, the more freedom I feel.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Skye Estroff – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Skye Estroff LLC is a company that specializes in social media, marketing and promotions in Atlanta’s food space and beyond. I help clients schedule, plan and build their social media platforms, create marketing plans and assessments and build media libraries.
I found my knack for social media at Atlanta Eats, where I grew their Instagram account from ~5,000 followers to more than 40,000. Then, at Taste of Atlanta, I took over their Instagram account when it had ~5,800 followers and grew it to ~49,000 followers. Seeing my clients’ social media thrive is something I’m very proud of. The trust that they give me is something I don’t take for granted. I’m so grateful for my clients and I work hard to maintain those relationships.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I must be nearing 30 because people keep asking me about my 5-year plan! I know I want to keep thriving in my business and helping people/brands share who they are through social media. I want to keep up the title of “Atlanta Food Expert” and share food trends and more on TV. I want to keep filming “Foodie Road Trip” and air my show on a major platform. But other than that, I’m taking things day-by-day and keeping my expectations open to any possibilities.
