Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Fetner.
Robert, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In the 80’s, I was a cop in Miami. After which, I opened several businesses till I fell back on my hobby Leather Craft. I saw where I would need shoe craft to really make it so I apprenticed for 3 years learning to repair shoes and boots. I am the only shop around here where you can get your boots repaired, saddle fixed, or have a belt knife sheath or holster made. An old school leather shop at its finest.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Only struggle has been keeping up with the business. I get customers from all over since few people do what I do.
The Leatherman – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We fix shoes, purses, jackets, and boots mostly. Although occasionally I still do saddle work. If time allows, I still do some custom work such as knife sheaths, gun holsters, etc.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Seeing a customer smile when they get their item back after I worked on it.
