Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalah Bilal.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kalah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my business in high school at 16, my business never had a slow start I instantly was getting orders by the 50’s then more and more until I hit 300 a week, I’ve been truly kicked while I was down and praised while I was up by the same people nobody believed in me when I came to ATL from Cleveland Ohio I came with nothing, no money no plan just had a feeling it was for me.
Six months later after being homeless hungry and at my worst I styled a celebrity and have been contracted by one of the biggest stores in Phipps plaza as a designer for their brand and about to drop my greatest collection yet.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’ve been bashed, I’ve been disowned losses friends I’d die for sadly, I’ve been used I’ve been homeless etc. Long story this was my worst year yet.
What else should our readers know?
I’m a designer and special stylist and self-taught seamstress.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My boyfriend, he invited me out here and truly Believed in me to the point he put his rap career on hold bc he knew we could be successful just by Krave by kae alone, he invested in me and he protected my brand like his own. He even became and model and first artist I styled.
