Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Redmond.
Kiara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
So, I’ve always had a passion for helping people after my mom got sick and had a stroke when I was 11 years old. That was when I found out how real God was and when I knew I wanted to get into healthcare. Initially, I wanted to be a doctor and I was able to get my CNA license and my patient Care technician certification before graduating from high school at Benjamin E, Mays. I was born and raised in Atlanta but no, I’m not a Grady baby. I was actually born at Georgia Baptist, which is now Atlanta Medical.
I mostly grew up on the westside of Atlanta, Hollywood Rd, Adamsville, and the Cascade area. Despite my environment growing up, it never changed the love I had in my heart for people, always trying to see the good in everyone. I ended up having my son at the age of 19 and knew I had to figure something out and find a means to really be able to provide for him, so I joined the U.S. Army when my son turned one. I worked in healthcare for 12 years from the time I was 18, but I knew I had an entrepreneurial spirit and wanted to be my own boss. I couldn’t stand dealing with the facts that I had to be told when to eat, how long a bathroom break would be, etc. I didn’t wanna feel like I was in prison and didn’t have freedom or control over my life. Between 2015 and 2016 was when I started trying to find my niche, figure out what I was good at and could monetize from it. First, I got my eyebrow threading certification and worked in a couple of nail salons that didn’t last long.
Then I started my own record label ‘WSAI” Westside affiliates international and had an artist that I was working with get invited to an interview with Interscope, but since I didn’t know much at the time about the business, I washed my hands with it. Then I invested my own money to open up a restaurant for a well-known chef in Atlanta but lost it all because of it being a bad partnership. So finally, after so many trials and errors, I remembered wanting to get into real estate at a young age because my dad was in construction well before I was even born. So in 2017, I worked for uber and did accounting at the Georgia aquarium part-time until I got my real estate license in May of 2017. After that, I hit the ground running, selling 15 houses in my first year! I have been doing it ever since and have been a full-time Realtor for two years out of the three years since getting my license.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it most certainly has not been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Everything that I went through was necessary for me to be the woman I am today. From growing up without my mom to having my son at a young age, to joining the military, from being shot when my son was four years old right in front of him, to be married and divorced in a year, and then to having everything that I worked hard for over the years stolen from my home a week before my 30th birthday, talk about a new chapter. I don’t even know how i got through most of that without losing my mind, but I would be selfish to not give all the credit and glory to God! I am a firm believer in the saying, “What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger! After everything I’ve been through and after my heart being abused and taken for granted, I still show love and forgive even when I probably shouldn’t. I just stand strong in my faith and know that if I keep putting good out, I will get it in return.
Please tell us about Your Neighborhood Realty Group.
YNRG is a company that specializes in residential sales, investment, land, and commercial properties. I wanted to start a business that was all about giving back and helping communities like where I’m from learn about homeownership and the importance of credit. Growing up, I didn’t have parents that taught me about credit or homeownership, so I want to make sure I help as many people as I can become educated on the subject. My company is mostly known for helping first time home buyers become homeowners and helping people improve their credit. I am most proud of my company for just staying the course. A lot of people get into this business with the idea of making a lot of money and get out of it faster than they did getting into it.
I have now helped over 40 families and it makes me proud to know they trusted my company and me to help them make an important decision in the lives to buy or sell their homes. What sets us apart is that we are a one-stop-shop. We help you get your credit fixed, then move you to the next step of getting you connected with a lender and get you qualified for any down payment assistance if possible, and last we help you find your dream home! The best part about buying a home through my company is it’s completely free for my service, so you don’t have to pay a dime if you are buying a home for me to be your Realtor! Now I don’t know about you but I love free stuff, especially if I can still get a 5-star service!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next five years, we will be a full standing brokerage with about 100 agents or more working under us! In the next ten years, we will be worldwide and will allow other agents to start up their own franchise and open up their own “Your Neighborhood Realty Group”. I want to make sure that no matter how big we grow, customer service will always be our main goal and keeping new clients, past clients, and returning clients satisfied!
