Thanks for sharing your story with us Whitney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in the bright light city of NY in the year 1991. Full of life and beauty. Twin survivor whose strong-will and perseverance framed my childhood. I was a diva athlete in the likes of Flo-Jo and Jackie Joyner-Kersee, who were known as track fashionistas. Their track culture inspired me to not only be a state ranking sprinter but look good while doing it. Cosmetology became a past time passion with weekly visits to my Grandparent’ house, often being asked to do mini makeovers for family members with my sister Brittany. In the year 2009, as a freshman at Delaware State University, I majored in Mass Communications but still maintained the desire to be apart of Cosmetology. Reflections take me back to several campus activities, such a member of Limitless Modeling Group and being a self entrepreneur in my dorm room. The skills of communication helped me build long-term relationships with my peers, who eventually became my clients.
As of 2013, I became an Alum of Delaware State University and headed south to kick off my career. My journey to Atlanta shifted my vision to entrepreneurship, creating my first Limited Liability Company (LLC). As fate would have it, I returned to NY for two years but was elated to land a job at MARTA in Atlanta of Fall 2015 as a Communications Specialist of Rail Control. Utilizing monies from the workplace, I was able to further fund WhippedLashBB. January 2020, I was able to focus solely on my brand and watch it flourish. I stand here today as a risk-taker, “Mompreneur,” and my own full-time boss!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“Embrace each challenge in your life as an opportunity for self-transformation.” At the beginning of growing my business, challenges were to be expected. These are some of the setbacks I experienced: meeting expectation goals, balancing motherhood as a first-time parent and consistent financial profits.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would say I am blessed, not lucky. Taking many leaps of faith and allowing God to use me has helped me in my life and business. I learned that being uncomfortable and letting God lead can land you many opportunities. When you put out good energy into the universe, you receive good energy back.
