Today we’d like to introduce you to Beunka Hollimon.
Beunka, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began “eightam” as a reseller on Poshmark and Mercari when I was 16 years old. I fell in love with the clothing industry and that was my first experience with entrepreneurship. Shortly after, I took a break to focus on finishing high school and then I started back my freshman year in college. In college, I was tired of relying on my family for money so I wanted to create a new stream of income for myself.
So, I decided I to start “eightam” back up, but combine my passion and a brand together. I have always been a huge fan of health/wellness and clothing. So, I created “eightamhealth.” Within eightamhealth, I wanted to create an activewear line that combines athleisure wear and build a community of women who focus on achieving their goals. I envisioned a place where women can come together and support one another. I did not want eightamhealth to be all about profits, I wanted it to be about women empowerment, mental health, and growing into our best selves.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road! In the beginning, I had a hard time actually creating a brand in itself. I had to fund eightamhealth myself as well. I took the money my mom was sending me for school and constantly invested it back into the business. There were so many people telling me I should just “focus on school,” but college was not for me. The only thing I could focus on was my passion, eightamhealth. Honestly, it still is a challenge but I keep pushing because I know that in the end, it will grow and become even more successful than it already is.

Eightamhealth is a company that focuses on physical, mental, and spiritual health. We sell athleisure wear for women who are go-getters. Our customers prioritize their health and look amazing while doing it. As a company, we are most proud of our community. We aim to not just sell activewear but create a community of women who takes care of themselves, values self-care, and spread kindness everywhere we go.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, I don’t think there is anything I would do differently. Every mistake, failure, and disappointment has built me into a stronger person. I have learned so much about business and I am so humble and grateful that I was chosen to create this brand. However, if I have to pick. I would have began sooner.
