Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa McNeal.
Marissa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a graduate of the top make up school in the nation Make Up Designory in LA. I have the opportunity to work in many areas of the Make-Up Industry. Movies, music videos, photo-shoots, weddings. My expertise is in bridal and special events make up. I take great pride in my passion, I help to assist people seeing their individual beauty.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have definitely been ups and downs. The first thing that comes to mind is choosing a makeup school to go to and then find the financial aid to attend a school across the country. One of my lowest points was when my makeup kit was stolen out of my car. I had about $5000 worth of makeup and had to step back and save again to build my kit. It’s a lot of pressure to be your own boss, but the positives much outweigh the negatives.
Marissa McNeal Makeup Artistry – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I really enjoy doing beauty makeup. Weddings, in particular, are my specialty. It’s such a unique experience to be able to be part of such a special time in someone’s life. Through consultations to the trial to the actual wedding day, I’ll do everything to make sure the bride and bridesmaids feel their absolute best and will customize each look. Seeing the beautiful professional photos come back and getting feedback like the ones below from clients keep me going and ensure me that I’ve picked the right path.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Well, when I have 1 million dollars in the bank. 🙂 All jokes aside, I started to feel successful once I built up my clientele. Never underestimate word of mouth. If I’m doing a wedding, there’s a great chance that some of the bridesmaids are also getting married soon and then it just builds and builds from there.
