Meet Kristen Mason of Zenletics Global in West Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Mason.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kristen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Kristen Mason began her journey in wellness at 18 by devoting all her free time to learning yoga and meditation. Shortly after, she became a licensed massage therapist, falling in love with the notion of helping people with their personal wellness journeys. Fast forward six years, and Kristen found empowerment through training after losing 98lbs in nine months, curing herself of type 2 diabetes, and subsequently becoming a personal trainer.

“It was one of the most empowering things that ever happened to me. Throughout my entire weight loss journey, my whole self-narrative was that by the end, I would be a completely different person, a better person. But what really happened was I became more myself than I’d ever felt.”

She currently has 14 years of massage experience, her practice primarily targeting working with professional athletes and those who are highly active.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have some pretty elite clients – Big Boi, Faizon Love, Solo Lucci, Daniel Jacobs, Philip Wheeler, Ziggy Hood, Devonte Freeman, and Julio Jones. I’m grateful for that. Still, I love working on house moms, construction workers, and educators. I love keeping people like that going because they keep us going.”

In 2014, Kristen became an athlete herself, becoming a 3x award-winning bodybuilder. She’s currently working toward her first amature fight as a Boxer. Continuing to add to her list of accolades, Kristen is also a yoga instructor, fitness nutrition specialist, author, and nationally published writer. Through everything, her biggest goal has been empowering people through wellness by educating them on how to incorporate wellness into their lives. She maintains the belief that when people become aware of their bodies and how to take care of them when they realize that their health is in their control and they have the power and ability to positively affect change and maintain balance, the personal power that grows from that will reverberate throughout the rest of their lives and the lives of the people around them. They’ll know they can achieve anything.

“The beautiful thing about wellness is that there are so many roads you can take to get to the same destination. All you have to do is pick one and begin your adventure.”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest hurtles I’ve faced have been internal. The first one was about five months into my fitness journey when I plateaued, meaning I completely stopped losing weight even though I was still dieting and exercising at the same rate. It was tough getting up at 4:30 am every morning to workout 4-6 hours a day in addition to working a full-time job and beginning a fledgling business. The plateau lasted an entire month. Back then, I didn’t understand that it was simply the result of me losing weight and building muscle at around the same rate so the scale didn’t move. But I was already committed, so I stubbornly clung to the regimen. The next month I lost 15lbs, and the journey continued in peace, with me having learned a big lesson about consistency and endurance.

Beginning my company, Zenletics Global, in earnest in January of 2016, was by far, the hardest and scariest part of my entire journey. I quit my job and lived off of savings and what my business brought in. Everything was great until about June of that year when a lot of my clientele shifted, many of my athletes moving or being cut. Being that they were my main source of income, took a big hit. By the end of that year, to say I was stressed was an understatement. Again, I found myself learning a lesson in consistency and endurance, but also strength. I really got to see just how strong I really am during those times. Now, after having a full financial recovery, I look back on those times and wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve been through the trenches and come back with stories to help others.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Zenletics Global – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Zenletics Global LLC is a wellness company targeting pro, amature, and weekend athletes, recovering people, and those looking to get in shape. Zenletics houses several programs, including M.A.S.S. or Muscle Activation Strengthening Session. This is a bodywork program that helps athletes, highly active people, and those recovering from injuries with compensation patterns. The program prevents injuries and improves performance.

Make It HIIT is another program housed under Zenletics Global. Make It HIIT is a YouTube series offering HIIT gym workouts in 20 minutes or less, with beginner’s, intermediate, and advanced levels. The series can be found on YouTube at Zenletics Global. I’m most proud of the fact that no matter which program you participate in, you will get results. I don’t believe in frufru massages or workouts that are ineffective. From start to finish, in either program, I give you everything you need to change your body for the better.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The M.A.S.S. program will soon be available to massage therapists, chiropractors, athletic trainers, and other bodywork therapists who are looking to expand their company and services. Coupled with an accompanying book to be published in March of 2021, bodywork therapists will have the option to attend classes to learn the program and/or license the program to open their own practice. Licensing will be available by June of 2021.
