The catalyst for change was after I suffered a stroke in November 2018. This health crisis was the first step towards our dream of starting a business. During that time, we were going back and forth with ideas of building generational wealth, but no real push to start working towards our goal.
The idea of our business was born when we attended our first Black Business Expo at Rowan University in 2019, we were impressed by the vendors. We knew we could do exactly what they were doing. We decided to focus on natural products since that has always been our passion. We both were into creating products, scents and researching product ingredients.
After the Black Business Expo, we solidified our dream. We started our business in March 2019 and launched to the public on September 19, 2019. The journey from the start to present has been such a blessing. We are so amazed how much we have grown since our business launch. We are constantly pursuing ways to enhance our skills and abilities to improve our business.
Has it been a smooth road?
The continuous struggle is advertising and marketing our business to a large audience. We know we have something special, the hardest part in getting our products into the hands of potential customers. My husband always said from the start of our business “all we have to do, is to get our products in front of the people and our products will sell themselves”. However, this process requires consistency and commitment. It is not an overnight process that everyone on social media portray it to be. We started vending more at local and regional events to get our products in front of more potential customers.

Drip Scent Essentials is a small family owned and operated ecommerce business. We make everything by hand and small batches. We specialize in all natural, organic and cruelty free products for him, her and home. We have over 150 products available online (www.dsessentials.store). We are known for our different Whipped body butter scents for Men and Women as well as our Hair and Beard Products. In addition, we make body soap, body wash, lip balm, lip scrubs, bath soaks, candles and facial products.
