Meet Rick and Beth Leigh of Post Exchange Catering in Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick and Beth Leigh.

Post Exchange was founded in 1993 by partners Beth and Rick Leigh. With a combined 50 years’ experience in restaurant and small business development, the decision to open their own business was an easy one.

Beth’s background includes business development having served as an economic district small business specialist providing consulting services with government and university collaboration. Rick comes from a national restaurant  chain background with awards ranging from being the top 10 in the system as well as a designated training unit. Rick’s extensive restaurant background combined with Beth’s small business development experience proved to be a winning combination in the corporate food service market. Starting as a corporate cafe, Post Exchange soon evolved into a premier corporate catering service throughout metro Atlanta.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening your own business is never easy but it is really very fun! Has the road always been smooth, no. Has it always be rewarding and meaningful, absolutely! Our biggest challenge is getting great people to be part of our team. And we do have wonderful, genuinely good people working with us. The next greatest challenge is consistency in processes and systems developed which make Post Exchange Catering so unique.

Having a business plan and operation manuals in place really has given PEC a strong foundation to grow and mature as a small business.

Post Exchange Catering – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Post Exchange Catering specializes in corporate catering. We are primarily open Monday through Friday focusing on the breakfast and lunch segment. Our staff loves being off at night and home on the weekends to spend time with their children and families. This sets us apart from all other segments in the food service industry which generally have their peak sales occur at night and on weekends. We purposely created this niche for our business to enjoy a balanced work and life culture supporting our team and their families.

What do we love about PEC? We would suggest you ask our staff. You will hear words like giving, kindness, RAKtivism. We love to inspire giving through random acts of kindness. We hope to make this world (and Atlanta) a better place by adding a little sunshine to people’s day.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We define success by the ability to positively impact others’ lives both our PEC team and our customers. We have developed a platform to share kindness one small act at a time which we hope will inspire others to pass it on and do the same.

I love being a part of the PEC team! I’ve learned and grown so much by being a part of this family. Rick and Beth are excellent leaders and I’m most thankful for them!
