Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Taylor.
Sharon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out making jewelry as a hobby. I found that I really enjoyed designing jewelry and would give them as gifts. As I would wear a piece or set that I designed, I would receive compliments from co-workers and people I didn’t know would approach me to ask where did I get my jewelry from. When I told them that I designed the jewelry, their next question would be, can you make that for me and how much?
As I would make ties and bow tie sets for my husband, I thought how nice it would be to make jewelry to coordinate with the color scheme of the ties that I made for him. When he would wear one of the tie/handkerchief sets I made him, I would wear one of the jewelry sets that I made to coordinate with his tie/handkerchief set. My husband would receive compliments on his tie set, I would receive compliments on my jewelry set, and people would complement us on coordinating our attire and wanted to know the how and where. Once I told them I designed both the tie set and the jewelry set, they wanted to know how much and could I make a set for them in a specific color.

Has it been a smooth road?
My journey has not been easy and has not gone as planned; I have faced several unexpected and unforeseen challenges. I was diagnosed with Bone Cancer, (Chondrosarcoma); through faith, prayer, and grace of God I was determined to be a survivor and to make it through hurdle that life has thrown my way. I picked up where I left off, and continued to pursue my dream while working my full-time job as an Global Trade Auditor. I started to book vendor events, such as fashion shows, fairs, and other events on the weekends, I began to make sales, and people were becoming interested in the company and placing orders. Again, I was faced with another challenge, my corporate position had been eliminated after 12 plus years of employment.
I dealt with depression, anger, and frustration. I continue to pray and search for opportunities to make sales. So, I decided to take the business online to increase the marketing of the company to reach and expand the customer base across the nation. The website, www.ReneesDesigns4U.com, has increased customer traffic and spread the word of the company.
The sales have not been the volume that I have expected, but I am determined to continue the dream of being a successful business owner, to grow the business, to maintain and sustain. I continue to book events, increase marketing, and networking.
Through persistence, word of mouth, networking, customer recommendations, and faith in God, I know the client base will continue to increase. I have been successful with returning customers who have spread the word of how pleased they are with my products and customer service, which drives new customer traffic and sales to the website.

We provide customized and handcrafted jewelry, bow tie, necktie sets, and more for every style and moment in time. Seeking for ways to stand out above the crowd.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the company sales increasing and customer base growing between the next 5 and 10 years as we continue to strive for success and researching avenues to stay abreast of the trending styles, projected color pallets, and taking pride in the ability to research, learn and, adapt; while still providing customer satisfaction.
