Hi Jana’, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Georgia from North Carolina on December 28th, 2018. I moved here with $400 and a dream, lol. I had no idea what my next move was going to be. I felt like I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. I was contemplating re-enrolling in school to finish my degree in Exercise Science, but I knew my heart wasn’t moving me in that direction.
I really had to take the time to think about what would really make me happy, so with a little soul searching and praying, I decided to go with something that I’ve always wanted to do, which started an all-natural body butter and body scrub line. I enrolled in Elaine Sterling Institute for Esthetics to learn more about the different skin types and conditions because I wanted to be able to make products that cater to everyone. While in school, I found that I really loved everything that I was taught and wanted to add those services to the brand that I was visualizing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The biggest struggles that I’ve faced are self-doubt and patience. I’m my own toughest critic. There have been plenty of moments where I doubted myself and if I was moving in the right direction when things weren’t working out how I envisioned them. One thing that I had to realize and repeat to myself daily is that patience is a virtue. When you’re stepping out on faith things, don’t always happen how or when we want them to, but all in God’s timing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Glow’d Up Skincare specializes in everything beauty. We provide a wide range of services, facials, corrective skincare, yoni steams, body treatments, as well as waxing services etc. We will soon be offering party services. Here at Glow’d Up: Skincare by Jana’ we are known for our excellent Aromatherapy facial which involves the use of a variety of essential oils according to your skin type to not only help obtain the glow that you’re seeking but to also help you de-stress. I am most proud of the simple fact that regardless of the moments where I lacked confidence in myself, I kept pushing!
