Today we’d like to introduce you to Turé Mackall and Ka Chanelle.
Turé and Ka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Our journey began three years ago when we met at a vulnerable place in our lives. [Ka] was divorced and [Turé] had lost his wife to breast cancer. We were both trying to put our lives back together at the time, so we became friends and soon after started dating. Turé, whose a serial entrepreneur, had already established ATL Apparel Design, but also worked in videography and photography. [Ka] also dabbled with photography so we decided to utilize our talents together and started True Reflections by TK. During Covid, Ka decided to take a leap of faith on another venture, a process which began a couple years ago with her wanting to make her own Candy Apples for her daughter’s birthday party. Fast forward to now, SugaBabe was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course as with any small business there were hurdles along the way. Some of the main issues were fluctuations in business, everyone understands the lows, but the highs can sometimes be just as stressful, particularly when running multiple businesses. We utilize family and friends to help out at times, but the brunt of the load still falls upon our shoulders, of course we’re not complaining though, lol. Covid also affected aspects of business such as our suppliers and delivery times, however on the flip side it actually made each one of our businesses excel… Thank God!

ATL Apparel Design is a full service custom textile design and sale business providing customized products such as Clothing & apparel, signs, tumblers, mugs, tags, cases, decals and much more. We use a multitude of techniques to meet any need including screen print, vinyl, transfers, sublimation and embroidery.
True Reflections by TK is a photography/videography business specializing in capturing moments in time from any occasion, whether it’s headshots, grad pics, product branding or the perfect wedding, we aim to bring your true vision to life.
SugaBabe is your one stop shop for all of your sweet tooth and party planning needs. We offer custom confections such as Candy apples, chocolate covered strawberries and treats, as well as other customized items and decor for various events and socials. Whether its a birthday or a wedding, let SugaBabe bless your occasion.
