Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Edwards.
Angela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been doing aerial fitness for 15 years! I really wanted to bring awareness to aerial silks and develop a program for the everyday person that is attainable and realistic. Aerial fitness, especially silks, can whip your body into tip-top shape. We specialize in low aerial arts to take out the extreme height which typically scares people off from aerial fitness. The core strength that develops with our classes is amazing. What I love about silks is that you can see your progress with the pretty shapes and tricks we make with the fabric. This is a great motivator besides weight loss. In order to make fitness a lifestyle, you must have something else, besides weight loss, as a goal to stick with a fitness regime. Our students never dread coming into classes because it is fun. Once you find a workout that is fun, then it won’t seem like work. We also just released our Sky Kids division for ages 4-17. Kids love it!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have had my other aerial businesses for 15 years; however, with this new division, educating the public on how our classes are structured, the benefits, etc… does take some time as people are still unfamiliar with aerial arts and how much of a workout it is.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sky Barre and Sky Kids – what should we know?
We specialize in low aerial arts. We are known for having attainable classes for the everyday person. I am super proud that we take the average person and turn them into aerialists. We get people into amazing shape.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe my patience (and all of our instructors) contributes to our company’s success. I love that every teacher that works for us started out as a student and we only hire from within.
