Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Walker-Craig.
Brittany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My cousin and I had a clever idea when I was nine years old to sell “Cool Cups” (frozen Kool-Aid or Juice in a styrofoam cup) for $0.25 to her friends during the summer in Missouri City, Texas. After making more than what we expected, we branched from one flavor to multiple flavors, chips, candy… you name it! The following summer we expanded to our second location which was my house located in the neighborhood, Alief (SWAT) in Houston, Texas. As children, our highlight was taking our best friends to an all-expense-paid adventure to AstroWorld for Freight Fest for both of our birthdays at the end of October. But this was the birth of entrepreneurship that over time, would evolve into acquiring generational wealth.
Throughout my childhood and until early adulthood, I experienced many obstacles from bullying, coming out to a heavy Christian-based family and overcoming rehab. In 2009, I returned to college and began establishing my career. From then until 2019, I obtained 4 degrees (Associates in Applied Science in Culinary Arts, Associates in Applied Science in Hotel/Restaurant Management, Bachelor of Science in Technical Management and a Master of Science in Nutrition Education) and had the opportunity to operate a personal-chef and nutrition company along with operating a restaurant. After losing the restaurant due to the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, I returned to Corporate America. In that position, I experienced unethical practices and racism which led me to start the consulting agency, NNG Consulting.
Utilizing the skills, education and experience developed over the years from more than 15 industries, I want to serve others by assisting start-up businesses with organizational structure & getting established and existing organizations with strategic planning, project management, program development along with auditing & analysis. I offer a FREE consultation to determine the needs of the organization with business tools in order for the organization to reach its fullest potential. As a Plant-Based Nutritionist & Biology Professor who lost 80+ lbs and reversed her diabetes & other health diagnosis – I also want to help heal and educate the community as many of the Black and Brown people of color suffer from chronic illnesses that are directly related to diet and lifestyle. At a young age, my grandfather advised that I was a legend. I truly believe that I am the Ancestor’s hopes and dreams so it is in my destiny to serve, heal and educate my community and culture. If we can all elevate together by establishing legitimate organizations with exquisite customer service, then we are UNSTOPPABLE.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, most definitely not! If anyone tells you that entrepreneurship is easy, that is a fabrication! Being bullied at a young age for my weight embedded an insecurity within that being skinny was not attractive. This led to attempting unhealthy dieting trends, developing a poor diet and lifestyle habits that eventually led to my Diabetes diagnosis. In addition to the bullying, overcoming harsh religious beliefs in order to be free and my true self led me down a path of unhealthy habits like alcoholism and drug abuse. Engaging in relationships that were negative, toxic, abusive (physically, verbally, emotionally and spiritually) allowed me to learn who I really was and what I rightfully deserve.
If anyone tells you that therapy does not work, that too is a fabrication! Finding the right therapist that can assist you with your problems and journeys will help aid in balancing your life. Mental health is extremely important and in our community, it tends to be frowned upon. Therapy was a lifesaver for me and it allowed me to overcome all of the demons that had been holding me back from reaching my fullest potential. Also, engaging in a nutrient-dense diet aids in balancing the chemicals and hormones in the body and will be a positive factor in maintaining optimal mental health.
Recently experiencing racism in more ways than one has definitely made me stronger than ever before. My first experience was in 3rd grade but most recently, in the last six months at the organization that I just resigned from. It is baffling how you can work so hard, outshine yourself since you are truly your own competition and yet only migrate from being a field negro to a house negro. I established a legitimate learning & development program for a department with my most recent employer that turned into me consulting for the other departments in developing or restructuring their training programs. After consistent, hard work time and time again with a proven impeccable track record, my promotion was given to a Caucasian woman with less experience, one degree and did not meet the organization’s promotion guidelines. The incident was reported three separate times and investigated and still no justice. The challenge was remaining professional and ethical in order to develop a promising exit plan that involved me being financially secured, developing the consulting agency all while still working at my stellar level and managing & mentoring my direct report. But I conquered, bowed out gracefully 60 days from my decision date and here we are now… using that same work ethic, skills, experience and passion to serve my people!

NNG Consulting (NNG representing New Nation Goddess) is a consulting agency here to serve and educate entrepreneurs and organizations. For start-ups, we will aid in getting you established, legitimating ensuring that you are in the compliance based on your operating state. Even if you have a business idea and are not sure which route to take next, we are here to help fuel your passion and determine how you can become financially free from it. For existing organizations, we can audit specific departments or the organization as a whole to determine areas of opportunity that will bring a positive outlook and additional profit.
My areas of focus when working with organizations are organizational structure, strategic planning, project management, program development and auditing & analysis. Key areas that we are specialized in are learning & development programs, new hire orientation, customer service training, building business credit, leadership & management and report development based on statistics. An added feature is mentoring as we like to guide our clients down a positive and productive path to success. While working as a Nutrition Consultant, each situation is different and varies based on the client’s needs and current health diagnosis. We like to meet with the client and map out the best plan of action to achieve optimal health. Restaurants are also welcomed as we have options to add menu items with existing in-house ingredients in order to service multiple demographics.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is knowing that I have served, healed and educated as many people as the Most High & the Ancestors placed in my path. Many view success as how much money you have made. Success for me is seeing my clients win with their progression and positive changes. Truly being happy in life with love from those who are deserving of your time, good health, laughter and being spiritually whole with a pure heart – now these define what complete success means to me. The money will come. If you are an honest and hardworking individual who is willing to give and also receive equally, then financial wealth will follow. Being genuinely kind and serving your best work at all times will naturally shine a light over you and your brand so be good to others and the payoff will be rewarding. The end goal is NEVER the bag but the satisfied client and ensuring that you provided exceptional services. Now when that client becomes a loyal customer, the bag then begins to fill on its own.
