Today we’d like to introduce you to Kervon Henry.
Hi Kervon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In the Fall of 2014, I left the business that I was in for years after the company closed down. Always having the ability to cook, and having done catering before, I started selling food to local barber shops, hair dressing salons, insurance agencies and car dealerships, city agencies. I would put out on Facebook and later Instagram what I was selling that day and people would call or send me a message telling me what they wanted.
After about a few months, I started working out of a shared kitchen and I met a guy who told me had an old grill that I could use on the weekends. I then set up shop in a parking lot on Scenic Highway and sold food there every weekend for about six months. After this time, I was able to open a small sports bar but after being robbed by the landlords was back to selling food on the streets again. I moved from one location to the next, with my last stop being Pleasant Hill Road. I was then able to secure a lease at my current location (706 Grayson Highway Ste 212) in the Spring of 2020. I opened in the summer or this year and so far, Business has been ok. In spite of COVID restrictions and not being able to take full advantage of things such as dining in, business is doing ok.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Not being able to secure funding to open the business was the biggest obstacle. Not having one set location where people can come was hard. Also, having to set up an take down your operation daily was very difficult.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I sell some of the best BBQ you will ever taste. I specialize in Briskets and I’m well known for this. I’m most proud of the fact I am able to serve quality food to my customers all the time. I think that my determination sets me apart from others.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The customers deserve credit for their continued support.
