Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Hunt.
Stephanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I guess you could say that The Savvy Peach began in a computer lab at the University of Alabama many years ago. At the time, I was taking a course on graphic design for Public Relations majors. I was studying PR in hopes of one day working for NASCAR. As a part of the required coursework, I took the class to learn what I would need to pass along to my art department in the future. There, I fell in love with the art of graphic design. I went on to take as many art classes as I could while finishing out my degree.
After graduation, I accepted an internship at an Atlanta-based Public Relations firm. There I continued working on my design skills for clients and in-house projects. I loved every minute of it. After my internship ended, I accepted a marketing assistant position at a Norcross art dealer & gallery. I progressed in my work and quickly became the company’s source for all of the design projects needed. I was promoted to Marketing Director, but never really loved my job.
Fast forward eight years to a growing family and a mom who was tired of commuting and having no flexibility. I prepped and worked constantly (during the day for my employer and until early hours of the morning for my freelance clients) until I was confident that The Savvy Peach could take flight.
In March 2013, I gave my notice and officially opened The Savvy Peach in April. Today, we have grown to have 2 contract designers and countless clients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Is entrepreneurship ever a smooth road? I firmly believe that anything worth working for will be a journey of ups and downs. In the beginning, just making sure that I had enough client work to cover my expenses and take home enough to pay the bills was a major struggle. Then, as the business grew, the struggle was to balance time at home with time I dedicated to the Peach. Now, it’s a combination of all of those. How much do we invest versus how much do we take home? How much time do I dedicate to work versus being present with my family? It’s a continual struggle and blessing all at the same time.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was extremely shy. I’m an introvert at heart, but can switch gears as needed.
I enjoyed (& still do) hanging out with my family and friends, playing softball and watching football. I also loved swimming at my grandparents pool ALL summer.
