Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Clark.
Hi Jade, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My husband Myles and I went from living with his parents to living on our own. All that time, we’ve always looked for ways to take care of our skin and hair. We found some stuff that worked temporarily, but nothing ever was permanent. We began researching different natural butters and oils that could improve our hair and skin. We spent many months trying new recipes to find the perfect blend for all of our products. After we finally perfected our recipes, we still weren’t ready to start a business. We were afraid and didn’t know where to start. We finally walked by faith and started Loc’d & Key.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been smooth. Aside from constantly being broke from having to buy materials, I am a full-time teacher (teaching virtually) and Myles works 12-hour shifts throughout the week, so finding time to sit and push our business has been a struggle.
We’ve been impressed with Loc’d & Key lllp, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a family, black-owned business that believes in three core values family, faith and entrepreneurship. We are committed to customer satisfaction by providing high-quality, all-natural hair and skincare products. We also offer specialized orders for any customers with allergies.
What are your plans for the future?
We have new products coming in 2021. Our goal is to have Loc’d & Key products available in local beauty supply stores and shops. The ultimate goal is to setup Loc’d & Key vending machines for quick, easy access to our products.
