Hi Ginger, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The birth of my daughter in 2010 brought out my creativity in a major way. Wanting to care for her at home while being able to make a living was super important to me. I’ve always loved fashion and style but mostly the personal and interesting side of it. Jewelry in my opinion, is the perfect accent to your look and I’ve always looked for special and out of the box pieces to add expression to my style. When I started making jewelry, it really was all about making meaningful and eye-catching pieces. I feel like I’ve remained consistent to that in my journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth but it’s always been worth it. I’ve learned through trial and error, from designing, pricing to customer service. Learning is a huge part of the journey. Being vulnerable enough to share your work and receive the accolades as well as the pointers. It’s very important to understand that as a creative, you allow yourself the chance to pivot and adjust. Our creativity is a gift and should be honored and restored simultaneously.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make and curate jewelry with a purpose, heritage and style. When I design my jewelry pieces, I have an image of a fearless and stylish woman in mind. She wants you to know that she put thought into her look and is assured that it’s special and one of a kind. I’m known for out of the box jewelry made from natural materials that elevate your style and confidence. I’m proud of the growth of my brand and the women who proudly wear my jewelry and share it with others. I call them my Flyii Girls and they definitely embody the true meaning of a standout, bold and stylish woman. What sets me apart from others is that I’m in the business of fostering a community of empowered women. It’s important to me to leave a lasting impression of care and concerned that wasn’t there before. We become family. I want you to be the sister that made jewelry for you and not just another brand.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Since the pandemic, I’ve become a sensational cook! I rarely eat out anymore. It’s important for me to eat food that I cook myself because I know how it’s being prepared at least. The catch is that I never follow a recipe but somehow create the most delicious meals you ever tasted. I grab all of my ingredients, with no measuring cups or cookbooks involved. I play some good music and make magic in my kitchen.
