Today we’d like to introduce you to LaDonna Robinson.
Hi LaDonna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I remember not even knowing who I was anymore. I remember filling the void with drugs and surrounding myself with people who brought out the worst in me, even took advantage of me. I remember not knowing my self worth at all. At 19, I left Illinois with one suitcase and decided I wanted more for myself. I came to Atlanta, GA with nothing and worked my butt off. I worked at restaurants, clubs, and even the mall to make a living. Taking trains, walking blocks and even wearing the same clothes, I continued to have faith in God that he would bless me if I continued to have faith. Eventually, everything changed. After staying down for so long, I was blessed to receive a position working with the Federal Government. That is when my whole life shifted. I got to where I am now because I continued to push myself, I realized my self-worth, and I remained confident in the path that God had out for me.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Seeing the good in everyone was a big challenge because I had to get played in order to understand that everyone was not going to present themselves in their truth. I had no emotional connection with anyone, not even my parents. I felt alone. Lost friends, I grew up with. Outgrew them and realized the friendship was bare minimum and I wanted more. Realizing that even family can envy your success as well. One of the hardest reality checks. Remaining positive when the devil continues to try me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I believe it is important for women to know their worth, as this was something I struggled with growing up. PRETTY GIRL WITH GAME is an evolving platform that empowers women to reach their fullest potential while knowing their self-worth and having game. It has transformed me into being known as an ambitious woman with goals and has helped me focus on what’s really important. I want women to have a platform they can look at as a reminder to know who they are and what they deserve.
Ultimately, this platform will shape women into the best version of themselves while incorporating positive affirmations into their daily life. This platform I have created sets me apart from everyone else because I allow myself to be vulnerable in each post from what I have been through that many women can relate to. From friendships, relationships, jobs, etc. I like to speak on topics that many can relate but don’t want to have the conversation on. The website I have created for PRETTY GIRL WITH GAME allows women to read all of my blogs as well as allow them to create their own accounts and create their blogs. Growing up I never had anyone to connect with on an emotional level so I started writing blogs. I know there are other women who are in the same boat I was in.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I grew up doing competitive cheerleading. I cheered for Cheer Command as well as ICE Allstars. Take me back to the days where I I was stressing about making sure that my flyer stayed in the air! LOL!
