Hidden Gems: Meet Tiffany Murphy of Enfrnch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Murphy.

Hi Tiffany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Absolutely! Well, my name is Tiffany and I am the founder of ENFRNCH.COM. I am a DMV native, LGBT member, and retired party girl. I love live music, learning new things, craft cocktails, and all things creative. Anyway, I loved how I could transform into whatever or whomever I wanted to be through clothing and my style choices. Funny story, I originally attended an HBCU, Bowie State University, for Fashion Design. During my time at BSU, a couple of my friends expressed interest in creating a collegiate fashion organization that included model training, styling, production education, entertainment, and an unexpected safe place for self and community.

We called it KUSH MODELS and even ten years later and the organization’s current inactive status on campus… I am still so proud. We were all individual’s kind of lost in life searching for answers, many of us outcasts, and some might even say outlaws. Despite our rough exteriors, we planted seeds in our members to live freely and confidently – and that is something I chose to lead with forever. It was my first time challenging myself to be a leader and though I struggled – I gained experience and the push I needed to create my own space. A few years ago, I started working for a luxury hotel and the whole experience terrified and empowered me. It was a lifestyle and atmosphere I was not accustomed to and for that I wanted to terminate my employment. Now I must confess that I talk to myself daily but this time was different. I had to pull myself to the side and ask myself some really hard questions. Was I about to let fear and the comfortability of my own environment dictate my future? Did I really want to add quitter to my resume? Instead, I decided to welcome the change, work harder than everybody else, and take my fear along with me on my journey. The rest is still unwritten

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started a business during a global pandemic where brick and mortars are “cancelled”, your best ‘fit’ is a nice blouse that does not particularly have to match your pajama bottoms. I mean, is “easy” even in the dictionary anymore? My journey leading me to where I am now started out as a blog that I still operate from time to time called BuckheadBetty.Blog, a loose and comedic reference to the “plastic” lifestyle of women in Buckhead in a awkward Carrie Bradshaw aesthetic while navigating my ’20 somethings’ (yes that was a Sza reference). I remember when I first got a piece of “Buckhead” – it was seductive, memorizing, and quite addictive – if you let it. In the heat of it all, some lose themselves and others tend to find out they really do not know themselves at all.

Overall, during my journey of the self, I would record my thoughts and vent mostly for my mental health. My goal was to give other women who possibly might be going through the same situations a safe space or at minimum a consciousness to know they are not feeling these things alone. I say all this to say the time I spent during quarantine talking aloud and healing myself forced me to conquer my own fears and chase happiness. One of my biggest aspirations was to own my own fashion business. I think all the self-care, women empowerment, and girl boss attitude just came with the struggle. My 2021 mantra for anybody who asks, “You get finer as you heal”.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Enfrnch?
Through my role and experience in luxury hospitality, I found passion and solutions to problems of ethics and cultural diversity in luxurious settings… Hence the birth of ENFRNCH.COM a boutique and lifestyle brand inspired by the reinvention and elevation of women. We believe the garment is only as good as the woman in it. Curated with the best-in-class brands and designs – we strive for pieces that empower women to take the narrative of their own stories and define their femininity. Let’s try an experiment, I challenge you to run to your local grocery store and open the latest fashion magazine. Flip through and count all the minority representation in the entire magazine by popular fashion brands. These are places and brands that we (minorities) support that choose not to support and engage in our culture. All too often in minority representation pertaining to fashion you see us in brands such as Fashion Nova which undoubtedly, is affordable and fits our natural born curves. Those brands also offer fabrics that sometimes look and feel cheap and are not always made to tailor to our femininity. I did not like the unconscious idea of “luxury,” and things categorized as such were not widely associated with black and brown culture. I was disappointed in the misrepresentation or lack thereof with minority women advertised and actively engaged in luxurious experiences – so I decided to change the narrative.

Enfrnch has searched locally and internationally for brands worthy of catering to the high-value woman. We will continue to hunt for the best out there while choosing to visually advertise our garments primarily using minority women. I figure the more we publicly promote minority women in positive fashion campaigns – psychologically, it becomes a trend and, in the end, turns into a normality. Because our skin – will never change, our hair – will never really straighten to others’ standards, and our curves – will still turn heads whether you like it or not. What will evolve generationally for minority women are the rooms we will be in.

Our tagline is “Experience Elevation”. Before I am an African American, I am a woman first. Our overall goal is to pour into our feminine community using our YouTube platform and partnered blog site, BuckheadBetty.blog. Soon we plan to have open conversations with local industry leaders and female entrepreneurs on their life experiences and expertise. The conversations will also follow up with firm brand standards, tips, and promotions to educate and expand the horizons of women trying to transform into their highest selves. Those topics range between finance, self-care to character building – encouraging women to level up their lifestyle mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and lastly physically. Last year took all of us through a moment of uncertainty. For someone suffering from low self-esteem, lack of confidence, or depression – a little black dress can make a big impact. To us, it is not about the discount – our weekly happy hour sale is about improving mental health with a little retail therapy and self-care. We all cope in different ways, whether it is stress shopping or a simple elevated outfit for a night out with your girls. We understand every angle and curve to get you through – whatever! The good news is, you’ve got the easy part – so let our shop be a safe haven and always remember you’re not alone. Enjoy 10% off the ENTIRE SITE – EVERY Wednesday between 3 PM-6 PM EST! Use code:’HAPPYHOUR’.

ENFRNCH is 100% Black-Owned and Female-Owned. We are based in Atlanta, GA but live everywhere online.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
In high school, my best friend’s mother started a non-profit organization called Compassion for Fashion. This organization encouraged local high schools to compete in fashion entertainment shows for grand prizes and bragging rights to be the best fashion club in the county. I remember being president of the fashion club at my school and one of her most trusted ambassadors. I loved the responsibility and uplifting my peers. I thank her for the opportunity and the experience that molded me for all my aspirations today.
