Meet Buckhead Celebrity Makeup Artist: Lux Christian Alexander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lux Christian Alexander.

Lux Christian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started off doing hair and I realized that hair really wasn’t my passion so I started playing in makeup. After playing in makeup, one thing led to another and I started working with hair magazines which gave me a platform to start getting my work published. I was working in a very popular hair salon called Escape at the time and that’s how I was started getting introduced to celebrities. That’s was the beginning of it all.

Has it been a smooth road?
Being a makeup artist has had its ups and downs just like any profession, but you have to roll with the punches and you also have to be able to understand that times change and you have to be able to change with the times. It’s not easy all the time. One minute you’re up and the next minute you’re down. You’re hot for a few seasons then you’re wondering what just happened. Some of the struggles that I’ve had in the past would include the connection with clients and also just understanding the industry and how it can change at any moment.

What are some of the influences that have played the biggest role in your journey so far?
I think the first salon that I had the opportunity to work st (Escape Hair Salon) played a pivotal role in my career. I was working next to some of the best hairstylist in the industry at the time so it forced me to go even harder with perfecting my craft and also learning the ends and outs of the industry. Being around the energy and the experience of people that had already been thru what I was going thru helped me out a great deal and gave me a good boost.

What kind of work do you look forward to most?
I’m just looking forward to working with more clients that I vibe with and that I can grow with. I’m ready to start back touring and traveling more.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were just starting out?
If I had to start over I would have tried to stick with hair a little longer so that I could have perfected it but I lost interest and got so busy with makeup I just let it fade away.
