Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiya Stanford.

Hi Kiya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for business, entertainment and culture. Growing up in Decatur, I was outside of the city but it was always accessible so when I went to school at Georgia State, I was able to get the real vibe of Atlanta. I believe getting my education in the heart of Atlanta solidified my desire to merge business with creation. There were always so many things happening on and around campus that made me fall in love with the entertainment, fashion, and music. I was already in business school for marketing but I wanted to find a way to also be a storyteller. I think those were the real roots of KNL Co. Position was a huge factor in creating the business. If I had not been in Atlanta, seen and benefited from the opportunity, and found people who have had success in entrepreneurship/the arts/media/entertainment everyday, I would not have had the guts to create my agency. I know it is possible so why not me you know?

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been an interesting road. I ideated my company and filed the legal paperwork while still working in corporate and in the height of a pandemic so there were obstacles that stemmed from timing if nothing else. I am aware that a lot of people with a lot more resources and experience do what I do so I think the biggest obstacle for me has been to find and sell clients on the value I can add to their business or platform. I believe that is normal though. The largest challenge (so far) has honestly been the jump into entrepreneurship itself. I am 100% betting on myself all cards in no net.

KNL Co. is an Atlanta-based creative agency that looks to serve our clients while operating under the core tenants of Purpose, Passion, and People. At KNL Co., we strive to create a brand narrative that is both impactful and unique. By executing strategies that align with current audience & industry trends, we will propel your brand to its full potential. I like to think we play on the more creative aspect of marketing by telling stories. I want there to be a cohesive brand experience that can be seen from all aspects of the client’s deliverables, whether that be on social media, their website, media placements, events, etc…

Whatever we produce for the client, I want their audience to be like, “Yeah I could tell that’s a ___________ video/ shoot/ ad” or whatever the project is. I want that to shine through at every touchpoint. Brand wise I am most proud that I have been able to build up enough repertoire with my clients that they trust my vision and ethic. Right now that’s all I am really worried about. KNL Co. is an all-inclusive creative agency that offers brand strategy, content creation, digital marketing, event curation, media management, and public relations. We have the capacity to curate specific packages upon the request and needs of the client.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is closed mouths don’t get fed. You never know who the person you are talking to and what they may need. Having the ability to tell what you do and pitch yourself when necessary can be the difference between making a valuable contact or staying stagnant. When you know the value of yourself and your services and speak about it with conviction, other people notice. You never know what that may lead to in the immediate or later on down the road.
