Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Buck.
Sam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From Courtland, VA small town in Southampton County. Both mother and father are Pastors, and being raised in the church, I spent a lot of time waiting on them so we could go home, and it was just me and a piano in the church. At 15, I tore my ACL in a football preseason scrimmage and I was unable to play that year, but I was able to fool around with the piano at home all day. I attended Howard University as a scholarship athlete and majored in Music.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road is not smooth… I moved to Atl and was blessed to start an Indy label with one of my close friends. In short… it didn’t work, but what it did do is cause me to learn so much about this business, relationships, consistency and the type of attitude it takes to succeed. Talk less about the work and do more of the work so they can talk after it’s done.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a musician/producer… the co-founder of Press Play Entertainment Group, Founder of the band Rebel Church Kids, and Head of Music at Antioch Lithonia Missionary Baptist Church. I’m proud of all the work I’ve done, including working with phenomenal Indy artists like Jabriel, Broadway Miller, Reed Shannon, Keyone Starr, J Morris, Glo, Journey Montana, Brittany Bloom, ALMBC Mass Choir and more. I truly believe my love and willingness to work in all types of music and to work with all types of people truly is unique. I don’t want to “stand out” from others as much as I want to work with them, collaborate and create great music.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
FAMILY makes me happy. My last name means way more to me than my first!
