Meet Diego Diaz of Precision Drivers Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diego Diaz.

Diego, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My love for movies has always been there since I can remember. I recall always going to the movies with my uncle Henry to see every action movie that would come out in New York. After the movie we would discuss what were the great parts and what could have been done different. When I became older I started to buy old cars and fix them and started in the love of restoring and racing. I think I was not fortunate to have a film path since my family moved to Florida in the early 80’s. I decided to start computers as my path and I ended up graduating with a Bachelors in Computers. I started working in an office job and kept that path until I was 45 when I was laid off and found myself in a crossroad where I decide to take another path.

That path was going back to what I knew and loved to do. I had heard that GA was starting to show an interest in movies and I felt I needed to be there to follow that path I had since I was a kid. and thanks to my online business I had the stability to move. On November 24th 2012, we arrived in Marietta to start working. The only problem was that there were no agency or representation for experience drivers in GA. I started networking to find jobs but realize I was going to create a hub to find driver talent for the film industry.

I decided to use my talent to build a site that would help promote Drivers and Picture cars for GA film. I have been blessed to find great friends in the industry that support me and I consider part of my family. I do not want to mention names because I do not want to miss mentioning one. I do make sure that every year we have a holiday party to invite everyone that has been with me.

I have a great team that is well trained as Precision Drivers and Stunt Drivers. We all have the love for film and ALWAYS !!!! consider the safety of everyone on set. I do not want to discuss our training methods because I think that is one of our niche in this industry. I am concern and I am very vocal on the hiring of trained drivers and that they get compensated. I get very annoyed when I see Casting Calls for Precision Driver and attach a rate of $100 or less. I get more concerned when I see non-trained drivers on set that have had close calls during a film production.

We have evolved from our services but it has come from the needs of productions in GA. A large film production has multiple vendors providing services like props, costume, picture cars and Precision/stunt Drivers but what if you are a small production and need all that at a price to meet your budget? Well that were we stand out. I do dozens of film/video projects that we provide all of those services. For example, a low budget film we just wrap we provided 2 Police cars, 4 Police uniforms with prop weapons, 2 precision drivers and prop money bags. This is a great example of what we provide GA films and our site has all those services and we will continue adding more services as they are needed.

We also support many student films and provide them services free to help them grow in this industry. I am excited how the company has grown and how I am doing what I start as a childhood dream become a growing business in GA.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always struggles but you learn from your mistakes and fix and improve to ensure it never happens again.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Proudest moment was when I worked on Fences with my team of precision/stunt Drivers for 3 days in Pittsburgh, PA. I was able to coordinate and show what we could do on a major set.
