Today we’d like to introduce you to Asher Thomas.
Hi Asher, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I purchased my first camera a year ago. I was just playing around, honestly. I had no clue what to do with any of the settings or what lighting was at all. So, I stopped. I’m a full-time Math and English ESOL Teacher, so my time to dedicate to it was extremely slim. So, during the pandemic, I decided to pick the camera up again. However, this time I had time to watch hours of videos on Youtube, pay for lighting demonstrations, and even practice some editing. Six months later, here I am. Blessed with opportunities to work with some really amazing people.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely was not smooth for me. As a creative, you have moments where you lose that creativity, or have a creative block. That’s what was the hardest thing for me. However, I highly doubt it’s supposed to be easy lol.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Well, my full-time job is as a Teacher. However, in terms of photography, I THRIVE in Lifestyle photography. The everyday type of photos with a bit of fashion. I love throwing some lighting up outside and just having fun. I’m most proud of myself for not giving up on something that I really love. I think what sets me apart is me creating an experience with my clients. They are spending their hard-earned money with me. I want to create an atmosphere they never forget and want to come back to. Oh, and being affordable.
What are your plans for the future?
My plan for the future is to continue learning and growing. I don’t know half of what I think I could learn, so I definitely want to keep doing that and networking more. I’m a lot shyer than people would think. I look forward to creating more and traveling.
