Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyse Cline.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Alyse. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
From the moment I first saw my dad’s 1970’s Canon Camera around the age of ten years old, I was hooked. I claimed that heavy brick as mine and spent countless hours taking picture after picture of whatever I could find. Over the years, my passion for photography faded away until I started at Olan Mills Portrait Studio’s back in 2007. I spent years working in a studio environment, honing my skills as a portrait photographer and loving every moment.
Nothing made me happier than seeing the smiles on customers faces when they saw their images on the screen or making a baby laugh after having a mother tell me they don’t usually smile. After leaving in 2012, I took some time away from photography to pursue other working opportunities.
In 2015, after rediscovering my love of photography by helping out a photographer I know, I purchased my first Canon Camera of my own and I decided to open my own photography business and thus, Alexandra Cline Photography was born. I have a passion for capturing a moment in time for someone.
Nothing makes me smile more than when a client contacts me to tell me how much they appreciate and love the images I caught for them.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
What road is ever smooth? In the beginning, I struggled just getting myself out there with family and friends. I felt shy about letting people know what I was trying to do. I started out by working with another photographer to help her out and started gaining my own clients. Once people started to notice, though, it took off. The hardest part is branching out to new people. I love my returning clients, but I get excited when someone I have never had the opportunity to meet contacts me for portraits.
Alexandra Cline Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a traveling freestyle photographer specializing in weddings, but I love to shoot couples and family portraits too. I am known for my light, airy images, the ability to make everyone smile in a picture, and my signature shots. I love to use nature and the outdoors as much as possible. I am known for capturing that perfect glow in the background of images.
I am most proud of the work that I produce and offer to my clients. I have spent years working on learning those little photography tricks to get the best light and being able to shoot in any situation. I love getting to capture that special moment for someone regardless of where it is.
What sets me apart is me! When you get a session with me, you get someone who is spunky and full of light. I bounce around, laugh, dance, and even climb trees if need be. There are several clients of mine that can account for that last part. Anything to get that shot! I keep the energy up and moving regardless of the weather. I shot a wedding late last November where it was so cold, my fingers were too frozen to even turn off my camera at the end of the night! You wouldn’t know it though, all the images were smiles and giggles. I kept the energy up even in the cold and my bride thanked me for it. I’m a positive person and generally happy all the time and I bring that with me when I go to a session and people feel it; it shows in their images.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I think I define success in smiles. If my client is happy, then I feel successful. At the end of the day, it is not the quantity but the quality. If I feel like I was able to offer my best self during a session and capture exactly what the client is looking for, then I was successful.
