Community Highlights: Meet Daniel Humphries of Humphries & King Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Humphries.

Hi Daniel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started as a licensed agent about six years ago. I hung my license with a small boutique brokerage and loved the ability to talk and learn directly from the broker as I started my real estate career. About a year into having my license, I decided I wanted to open a brokerage that would allow agents to have the most up-to-date tech while also having the traditional small brokerage feel of being able to contact your broker directly. Almost exactly on my three-year mark, I passed my brokers exam. In 2018, my then-teammate and now business partner opened Humphries & King Realty, a brokerage built by agents, for agents.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening a brokerage has its ups and downs. At first, when it was just four of us, things were easy. As we grew, we experienced growing pains, as I’m sure most companies do. Trying to keep up with the newest technology, making sure all our agents are well trained and compliant, and then also managing the back-office tasks of a brokerage. It’s tough to compete with the larger, big-name brokerages out there as they have the money to market to bring in a large number of agents on a daily basis. We have grown to 30+ agents mostly by word of mouth. It has been a struggle but a rewarding struggle and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Humphries & King Realty?
Currently, our company specializes in residential real estate. We help homeowners sell or buy properties as well as help investors find, manage and sell their investments. I think what really sets us apart is our agents. We have such an amazing group of people who constantly help one another, build each other up, and share idea’s which I think helps us grow not only as a company but also as a family of professionals.

We have a new service coming out that we call our “Virtual Agent”. In the light of Covid-19 we have been looking for a way to offer our services to clients who may want to avoid contact with as many people as possible. In order to achieve that, we are offering discounted listing commissions on any client who wants a virtual agent. Our virtual agent is a licensed professional who can help the homeowner list their home via phone calls, text messages, and zoom meetings. They will be there every step of the way and never make actual physical contact with the homeowner. We are very excited about this new program, and I personally think it is the future of listings in real estate.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I think the main people who deserve credit for the success of our business are our agents. Without our incredible team, we wouldn’t be where we are today. We have truly helped each other grow, and Thomas and I are forever thankful to each one of them. Also, my sister Rachael has been the driving force of our branding and marketing behind the scenes.
