Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Adams.
Jonathan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I first started working with sound therapy after an experience with anxiety about 5 years ago. I found that the sounds really helped me to relax. I was already a performing artist, so I started recording and sharing the sound therapy sounds and tracks I made. I posted them online for free, and the listens and downloads began to grow organically from there. The tracks now have nearly 15 million plays and they are also featured in an app for meditation.
I also play weekly at the Atlanta airport. It all started as a way to cope with my own anxiety, and then to share with friends and family. I am really grateful to discover the healing potential of sound, and have the opportunity to share.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always challenges, but I have found to do the work I enjoy, and to not be attached to the outcomes. So, I am really grateful for every success. I just do my best work and know that my intention is to produce something useful and helpful to others. When others say that it is useful or helped them, that is a great reward. I know that if I keep doing that more flow is inevitable.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sonic Yogi – what should we know?
During an experience with extreme anxiety, I found Sound Therapy to be a valuable tool for relaxing and letting go of stress. As a musician, I have always thought of music as a way to entertain and move our emotions. Now I see it’s potential as a healing force. Sound, used therapeutically, can help us relax, de-stress, reconnect and FEEL GREAT!
I offer weekly sound meditations at the Atlanta Center for wellness. I also offer individual sound therapy sessions, and play for local yoga classes.
