Conversations with Austin Haynes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Haynes.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I finished high school, and I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do. Being an 18-year-old and deciding what you’d like to do (presumably) forever, is a little daunting! So, I decided to take a tour of a little school in Kennesaw. That’s where I met Lauren Reyes, she gave me a tour, and now we work together!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Being a hairstylist is a constant evolution and learning experience. The proverbial “road” hasn’t always been smooth, but I like to think that every bump along the way can be a learning experience.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My coworker Lauren and I operate a studio together, where we tend to focus on more natural, soft, and “lived-in” looks. The two of us, I feel, have a kind and caring nature, but be prepared for fun stories, and maybe a showtime or two. I’d say I’m the most proud of taking care of my clients to the best of my ability. Hairdressers are in a very unique position, it’s not all about your hair, people share their lives with us. I adore that part of my work just as much as anything else.

How do you think about happiness?
Happiness for me is either shopping, singing karaoke at the T in Grant Park on Wednesdays, or sitting at home with a rerun on, and snuggling with my kitties, Mouse, and Mildew (Milli). At work, I love the look of happiness and sounds of joy when a client loves what we’ve created together.
