Today we’d like to introduce you to Amelia Barnett.
Amelia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I love going out in Atlanta and as I started getting older, I really wanted to branch out of my comfort zone and try new things. This is what sparked my interest to create a page to track all the new places I have discovered around the city to share with my friends. My friends know I like to do different things in the city so they would always ask me about the new hot spots or send me suggestions on places to visit. I now have a page where everyone can reference to when they are looking for things to do. I took this as a challenge and I started looking for even more unique places and activities to do in/around Atlanta. This has definitely inspired me to really see the beautiful places Atlanta has to offer and how diverse the city truly is.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Covid has definitely been a setback for my adventures around the city. It was a lot easier to find events and new restaurants popping up in the city before lockdown. Once covid hit and Atlanta shut down that all changed. Lots of festivals, concerts, and restaurants began to close down or get canceled. I had to take a break from exploring during this time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love to be creative and think outside of the box so starting Atlfoodandcocktails and Millies Kloset was a way for me to express my creativity with my projects. I love styling people and dressing up so Millies Kloset was a great way to show everyone my fashionable side. Atlfoodandcocktails was a way to show everyone my exploration around my beautiful city of Atlanta. I would dress up in my outfits and also showcase hidden gems I found in the city.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I have learned to definitely think outside of the box with accommodating people during covid 19. I have tried to find a safer adventures for everyone and restaurants that are doing their part to practice safe covid 19 precautions.
