Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffiany Johnson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been styling hair since I was in my teens, so it’s something I have always been drawn to do. It’s something that always allowed me room to express my creativity while bringing joy to others. I graduated from Paul Mitchell and became a licensed professional cosmetologist in 2018. It truly has been up from there! I became a salon owner in 2020. My salon is named Hair It Iz Beauty Studio, and it’s located on the west side of Jacksonville. Some of the new exciting things since my last article include: Providing education & training to other hairstylists, servicing clients both in and out of my city, a new website, and I even have products coming soon!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course there have been challenges, in 2020 we all experienced life during a pandemic. In many ways, we’re all still trying to create and operate in a “new normal”. I would say that those challenges allowed me to push myself. The whole idea of taking ownership of a salon was an unexpected opportunity that really had me uncertain at first. I soon realized that God was opening a door and that it was my time to walk through it. Being a first-time business owner has taught me so much, and I realize now that so much goes on behind the scenes—patrons of your business never know or see it, lol! There’s a big difference between working at a business and being the person that responsible for running the business. I wouldn’t change a thing, this opportunity has allowed me to provide a familial space for other stylists to grow, and it’s also allowed and challenged my growth in many ways.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a natural hair stylist that prioritizes Hair Care first. I specialize in luxury extension services which include Microlinks, Tape Ins, I-Tips, & my HBTJ Signature Sewin. Each style allows my clients to still wear their natural hair and have it cared for while enjoying the benefit of wearing quality hair extensions.
My personality, professional transparency, customer service skills, healthy hair care focus, and commitment to perfect whatever it is that I am doing. My goal is to help my clients fall in love with their hair over and over again. I pride myself with truly nurturing their hair and ensuring that they’re fully aware of how to manage it at home. My goal is to deliver a total experience each time, all of which allow me to stand in a lane of my own.
