Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey and Michele. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Sisters of Leisure, a branded social platform co-created by Clevelanders Tracey Cooke and Michele Abdul-Qawiy, takes a candid look at the everyday duties, experiences, challenges, aspirations, concerns, and progress of businesspeople. Currently, Cooke and Abdul-Qawiy reside in Atlanta, Georgia. From their Atlanta hub, Sisters of Leisure interview businesspeople and panelists, in-person and online. Sister of Leisure interview guests provides insights and reflection on commerce, the economy, business savvy, family, community, and life. Cooke and Abdul-Qawiy originally started the Sisters of Leisure podcasts and Youtube videos after enjoyable facetime experiences the two shared everyday. Gradually, Sisters of Leisure built their roster of personalities, adding people to their growing conversation. As of October 2020, it was official; Sisters of Leisure established its online presence. Cooke and Abdul-Qawiy launched their website, Sistersofleisure.com. Sisters of Leisure are also on Instagram, Facebook, and of course, Youtube. In addition, every other Sunday at 7 p.m. Sisters of Leisure videos are viewable on kazradiotv.com.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall it has been pretty smooth, but there has been a few hiccups with guests committing to their podcast date. However, we were able to fill the slots due to networking and meeting a lot of amazing entrepreneurs.

Sisters of Leisure’s vision is to promote, elevate, and normalize Black entrepreneurship and Black-owned businesses. We decided to promote Black-owned businesses because we feel we have contributed to the wealth of America and we deserve acknowledgment. We have pop-up shops to further showcase black entrepreneurship and networking. What sets us apart is because we want to let other know that we should patronize these businesses and support their dream and craft. Sister of Leisure is most proud of the connections we have made during our first year. We want readers to know that we take pride in edifying others and appreciate their gifts and talents.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Sisters of Leisure believes in taking risks because in order to grow your brand and business, you must step out of your comfort zone. Risk taking is how you build character and gave us the ability to meet new people that are like-minded. We would have not been able to build if we didn’t take the first steps.
