Today we’d like to introduce you to Venny .
Hi Venny, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been in love with music since a little kid whether it be Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock.. really anything that sounds good to my ears. I guess you can say that I inherited that from my father because he’s a music geek. He taught me how to play my first instrument at 4 years old & ever since then I just been stuck with it. Most people know/knew me for playing sports & never thought that I would be interested in making music but that has always been a passion of mine, it was just only a matter of time that I decided to step out of my comfort zone and actually showcase my talents later down the line. I made my first song at 17 at one of my friends house, Logan, who is one of my engineers/producers still. Things started off a little rocky of course but that goes for anyone who does anything for the first time. Eventually I started getting better & better with time, patience & motivation which gradually led me to where I am today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it has been a smooth road, because of course anything you choose to do in life has it’s obstacles. However, the journey is enjoyable because you never know where you could be in the next month, year or so. As long as you have faith in yourself & put in the work behind it, everything is bound to come full circle. Some of the struggles that i’ve endured during the course of my journey were: finding a place to consistently record at, finding my sound, and learning how to engineer myself. Me & a couple of my business partners who are my close friends all put in for our own studio equipment so we could learn how to do everything ourselves and not be on a time limit like we would if we were to go in someone else’s studio.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an artist, which means that I have the ability to do multiple things. I’m a songwriter, producer & a creative catalyst. I write & record my own songs as well as some of my peers. I mix & master most of my music but I specialize in writing songs. That is what I love to do most. What separates me apart from others is that i’m very versatile. No matter what it is, whatever you need me to do I can do it.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Just try to find someone who thinks similar to you, try to find the vibe that you see in yourself. Also, surround yourself with people who you thrive off of, who gives you the motivation that you need in whatever that you do.
