Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Bailey.
Savannah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My husband and I started building and refinishing furniture several years ago as a hobby and opened a small space at a local store that we had been to several times and where we enjoyed shopping. When the owners were ready to retire, we offered to purchase the store, which went on to become the Flowery Branch location of Consign & Design Interiors. Over the past four years that we have owned the business we’ve gone on to win multiple awards and accolades, including multiple Best of Hall County awards, Best of Georgia, and Georgia Trend 40 Under 40.
We added a full-service interior design service to our offerings in 2019 and opened the design center at our flagship store in Flowery Branch, then went on to open the Gainesville store in 2020. We are the largest locally owned home furnishings and décor store in Hall County, offering new and gently used furniture, consignment services, and over 50 independent retailers.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Beyond the struggles that come with growing a small business, since COVID started we along with our entire industry have had to adapt to unprecedented difficulties in supply chain, inventory availability, and logistics that have made our regular business model difficult to sustain. We’ve adapted by offering curbside pickup, online ordering, and we’ve made significant investments in our social media strategies and have grown that part of our business exponentially. The ability to pivot with changing times and shifting global circumstances has been crucial during the pandemic.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Consign & Design Interiors?
Consign & Design Interiors has been in business since 2005 and underwent a rebranding in 2018 when ownership changed. We have two locations, in Flowery Branch and Gainesville, totaling over 16,000 square feet of new and gently used furniture and home décor, consignment services, and over 50 independent retailers. We’re the area’s largest locally owned furniture and home décor store.
In addition to our retail shopping experience, we offer our customers full-service interior design services through our design center. We feature many American-made custom furniture lines, including CR Laine, Mayo, Temple, and Parker Southern. Our friendly staff, warm and inviting showroom, diverse styles of our many dealers, and incredible values separate us from our competition. We are a gathering place for customers who want the personal experience of shopping local with the expertise of a seasoned design firm.
What are your plans for the future?
With our increased focus on online sales, we’ve found a great opportunity to reach more customers than ever, and we plan to continue expanding our online and social media sales strategies.
