Meet Ciera Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciera Thomas.

Hi Ciera, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Honestly, this started as a thought. I always loved everything about natural hair. I’ve been natural for nine years and it’s a part of me. After talking to one of my best friends, he told me to start blogging. My first instinct was, “Ummm, like start a Youtube channel?!” Lol. I wanted to start small, so I created my Instagram page, TheCurlySoror. I really jumped out there and did it and I’m glad I did. I’ve connected with other “Curlfriends” and secured a few partnerships as well. It has only been a little over a year since beginning but with the consistency and effort, I know my brand will continue to grow.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth road? Nothing is smooth, lol. It haven’t been smooth but not hard neither if that makes sense. Some days I’m ready to post, make videos, engage with the natural hair community, tackle wash days, etc. Some days, I’m like, ” Ugggh, I don’t feel like doing anything hair-related. Everyone has their moments and that’s okay, but don’t sit in it. I allow myself to feel whatever I need to feel and snap out of it. This is something that I enjoy and that’s what keeps me going.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently an Intake Registration Coordinator at Florida Cancer Specialists. I have a goal of becoming a Nurse but life got in the way as of now. Delayed doesn’t mean denied. I am actually holding myself back from it but like states before, I will snap out of it. I am most proud of learning how to let things go. Things that’ usually bothers me doesn’t anymore. I remind myself that I have control over how I want to feel and I’m working on that.

What sets me apart from others? Ummm, I would say that I’m optimistic. When things aren’t going good, I try to find the good that can come out of it. Focusing on the negative will distract you from the positive in any situation.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Those who know me knows me. Lol As for my brand, I would say that I loooove music, I’m very random, and love sports.
