Daily Inspiration: Meet Joy Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Lewis.

Hi Joy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2012 my dear mother transitioned from this life and coping with this loss took a severe toll on me physically, mentally and emotionally. In the midst of my despair my Mother came to me in a vision and told me to “keep living on this side”. I begin to speak life to myself by posting motivating quotes and scriptures. I grew a small following and noticed that I was not just helping myself but I was helping others in the midst of my own pain!

I started a motivational page @sundaybluesheart to house all of the quotes and scriptures. Months went by and life began to move swiftly and suddenly I stop posting. After several months to years of not posting I continued to feel a tug to honor my sweet mother. I decided to start the page again and this time the main focus would be fashion , which my mom loved and she loved to see others look their best or give them the confidence to believe that they were beautiful no matter what.

In 2019 I hosted my first Fashion show to continue honoring my Mother. It was a huge success and I had plans to continue down this route but that next year COVID took the world by surprise!

My husband came to me one day with the idea of branching Sunday Blues into a consultant company. We took the bull by the horn and Sunday Blues Heart LLC is now also known as Sunday Blues Consulting. We service many establishments in the metro Atlanta area with helping them from A to Z from opening a restaurant to daily operations! Under our consultation many restaurants have grown and maintain successful business!

I am pleased with the growth of Sunday Blues Heart LLC. However; this still wasn’t the connection that I wanted to maintain for the legacy of my Mother ! Sitting on my sofa in the midst of the Pandemic my new baby was birth, The Joy Shop and More! It is an online retail store that specializes in women clothing but we are slowly growing to cover all markets, including men!

I am also very pleased to announce that in this short period of time of the inception of The Joy Shop and More, we have been afforded the opportunity to grow into our own retail brick and mortar store at The Néw Black Wall Street in Stonecrest, Ga! The expected opening date is later this Month!

I must Thank God for His continued blessings and smiling on us. I must also thank the sweetest lady I’ve ever known Frances Marie, my mother(fondly known as Sug)for her inspiration and motivation! I hope we’re making you proud Momma!!

I also hope the same for my customers, that they will live out the best version of themselves through their clothing and styles!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business from the ground up comes with many challenges. Having a background in education has taught me to be solution based. So challenges have never been a reason to stop or give up.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am in my 22nd year as School Teacher. I’ve always had a love for helping kids sprout and grow! When I walk into the classroom my goal is to always give each of my students an opportunity to become the best versions of themselves.

I often remind myself that the capabilities that lies within each student can be nurtured or stifled. I’m my classroom students are given the tools to aid them in daily success and growth!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My Husband, Robert Lewis have been my right hand guy every step of the way. He’s constantly reassuring me that I can do whatever I put my mind to!

He has also been great support with both companies. He has taken Sunday Blues Heart LLC and nurtured it into the successful consultation company it is known as today!

His tenacity and diligence is unmatched!

I also owe a huge shout out to boys Mekhi and Sean! They have kept this lady afloat literally! They are my beautiful Sonshines! They bring me so much joy and love!
