Meet Clay Gridley of Six Bridges Brewing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clay Gridley.

Hi Clay, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My father (Charles) worked for Coors in the late 70’s, and he always has had a love for quality beers. As I (Clay) became of age, our love for craft beer was something we shared, comparing who had what beers in their fridge. We started homebrewing out of our basement and getting more into it. For years, he joked about having a brewery that my brothers, myself, and he run, calling it “Three Sons Brewing”. The stars aligned when I was looking for a new career and he was retiring from his. We decided that the time was right for us to go after our dream of owning a brewery! We became the first Father-Son brewery in Georgia, and are about to celebrate our 3rd year in business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think most roads in business aren’t smooth. In fact, a lot of times, you’re clearing the way for the roads to be paved. We had struggles at nearly every step of the way, and owning a business is certainly not easy. You need to ask yourself, are you willing to do what it takes to get the job done? And managing the highs and lows in business can be exhausting. Having some perspective on that and goals of varying terms in place are definitely necessary to keep you going.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Six Bridges Brewing?
We are a Father-Son brewery and the first brewery in Johns Creek. We make a wide array of beers, virtually every style. From IPAs to lager, Sours to stouts. Our Medlock IPA is our best seller though. Our team is what sets us apart! Our crew is fantastic! We have great beer here, but actually get more compliments on our staff than anything.
We love the history in our name. Six Bridges comes from the river crossings that were built by some of the settlers in the area. They used the Chattahoochee River for transportation and as a trading post for their agriculture and live-stock. The original crossings ended up being named after these settlers.

What matters most to you? Why?
In business, what matters most is the quality of our product. We are a family business, and our name is on the product. We do not cut any corners or use anything artificial, and try to make the absolute best product we can. We try to source ingredients as local as possible and partner with other local businesses.
