Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Compton.
Lindsay , please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was a ballet dancer for years and after a foot injury caused me to quit dancing I put my focus into something that kept me involved with the artistic and expressive world. I’ve always loved makeup and used it as a way to expressive myself. I got my cosmetology license while still in high school and after that, I attended a makeup school in Ft Lauderdale where I was trained in high fashion, print, and makeup for tv. I lived there for two years doing print and commercial work. I moved to Atlanta to take my makeup to the next level and get more involved in makeup for tv. Through networking, I’ve met and made a lot of connections that are taking me further in my career.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being in a field where creativity is everything, there’s always challenges. Sometimes I can get a creative block. Making the right moves and connections in my career is always challenging, sometimes I’m not sure of where to go next or how to take myself to the next level.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and career?
I honestly don’t believe in luck, I’m such a strong believer that we make our own destiny. When you wait around for luck you miss out on so many opportunities.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Having passion, being honest and always remaining myself.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The thing I love most about Atlanta is the networking and how people support and encourage entrepreneurship. Everyone is trying to get somewhere. The thing I like least about the city is the traffic.
